About the book
This children’s novel is about three generations born in a place replete with stories. In this tale full of wonder and traditions, we accompany the girl Menitinha (A shorten word for Minha Netinha, or my granddaughter), and her grandma. The plot takes place among traditions from times past, river washerwomen’s songs, the smell of guava sweets and, at dawn, an enchanted hour.
A Doll for Menitinha, which was illustrated by artist Larissa de Souza, is a novel about affection, about our origins and about everything that cannot be explained, but can be really understood.

About the artist
LARISSA DE SOUZA was born in the eastern part of São Paulo in 1995 and is a self-taught visual artist. Her figurative paintings, she says, are her way of investigating and recovering memories. She is represented by the Brazilian gallery Simões de Assis and the American gallery Albertz Benda. In 2023, she held her first solo exhibition in the United States and was nominated for the Pipa Prize. With Editora Caixote, in 2022 she illustrated her first book, “Uma boneca para Menitinha”, written by Penélope Martins and Tiago de Melo Andrade.
